Driving in the UK - documents (1)

This is the first in a series of activities about driving in the UK.  It tells you about the documents you need.

Driving in the UK

Read the the text about driving in the UK and then complete the tasks below.

You must have a driving licence. This shows that you have  passed your driving test and know how to drive a car.

You must have an insurance certificate. If you have an accident and you damage another person’s car, the insurance company will pay for the repairs.

You must have road tax. You must pay money to the government to use the roads. You put a tax disc in the front window of your car.

You must have an MOT certificate for your car if it is 3 years old or older than 3 years. The MOT test checks that your car is safe to drive.

 

If you have a driving licence from another country you can usually use it to drive in the U.K. for 12 months. For more information look at this website.
