Preparation

Take a few minutes to think about the following questions:

What were your first impressions of life in the UK?
When did you move to the UK?
Why did you move to the UK?
How did you feel when you arrived?
What were the differences between Britain and your country?
How have things changed since you arrived?

The following activities are based on Ibrahima’s first impressions of her new home in the UK so, before you start, you need to read the transcript of her story or listen to the audio.

Tip: an excellent way to practise your listening and writing skills is through dictation. You could listen to the audio, re-write the text (pausing as necessary) and then check it against the transcript.

Task 1

In this first activity, you will read some statements based on Ibrahima’s story.

You need to decide if the statements are true, false or there is no information.
