By doing these activities, you will improve your language skills as you read about Naveed’s first impressions of life in the UK.

Preparation

Take a few minutes to think about the following questions:

What were your first impressions of life in the UK?
When did you move to the UK?
Why did you move to the UK?
How did you feel when you arrived?
What were the differences between Britain and your country?
How have things changed since you arrived?

The following activities are based on Naveed’s first impressions his new home in the UK so, before you start, you need to read the transcript of his story.

Task 1

In Task 1, you will read some statements based on Naveed’s story.

Decide if the statements are true, false or there is no information.

I am not as lucky as Naveed, in the sense that I can not use a Spouse Visa.

So I do not live in the UK yet.

I have been many times all over the Country, always very happy to stay there.

I do agree with Naveed that it is a great place . That is why I am improving my English, hoping to find my working opportunity.
