Car boot sales

This lesson is about car boot sales and their place in modern society in the UK. Students will be given the opportunity to read about car boot sales and develop their vocabulary and discussion skills at the same time. They will also focus on a typical conversation at a car boot sale to give them more confidence when they attend an event of this kind.

Why do we do that?

An activity where students reflect on what they do in the classroom and why, which leads to a discussion about classroom practices.

To catch a thief: past simple and past continuous practice.

Students write a short article about a robbery to practise the past simple and past continuous.

The soap opera

In this activity, learners create their own characters to develop their own soap opera.

The holiday maze

A reading and speaking activity where students have to agree on holiday plans.

Storylines

A speaking and listening activity to help learners practise narrative tenses for storytelling. Aimed at lower level learners and above.

Stop, go back dictation

A dictation activity where learners control the teacher's dictation.

Review writing activity: sitcoms

Students read reviews of popular sitcoms, then watch a clip of a sitcom and create their own reviews.

Spot the vocabulary

A motivating visual activity to help learners recall vocabulary.

Same as the teacher?

This fun activity can be used as a vocabulary review or to test existing vocabulary knowledge, and generates a lot of lexis.
