Dictation: relationships

This lesson is about the relationships students have. The tasks allows for discussion and personalisation and can lead to stronger group cohesion as the students learn more about each others’ lives. It provides practice in all four skills.

Favourite British foods

This lesson is about food. It is based on a video, which shows students talking about their favourite British foods. The lesson provides students with the opportunity to listen and learn about British foods and to write about and discuss their food tastes in general. 

Police emergency

This resource is taken from the Be safe UK series of resources which aims to give learners the confidence needed to be able to call for help in the event of an emergency.

The teacher’s phone call

This resource, 'Someone on the phone: the teacher’s phone call',  aims to give ESOL learners the confidence and the language to deal with situations they may encounter in their homes. In this film, Sunita speaks to her son's primary school teacher on the phone.

Meter reading

'Someone at the door - meter reading', is part of 'English in my home'. These resources aim to give learners confidence and equip them with the language necessary to deal with situations where unexpected callers arrive at the door. In this lesson, Sunita finds out all about how the electricity reads the meter.  

Charity collection

'Someone at the door - charity collection', is part of 'English in my home'. These resources aim to give learners confidence and equip them with the language necessary to deal with situations where unexpected callers arrive at the door.  In this lesson, Arjun and Sunita deal with some very suspicious charity collectors.

Getting a plumber

'These resources aim to give learners the confidence and the language to deal with situations they may encounter in their homes.  In this lesson, Sunita talks to a plumber about doing some repairs.
