Around our college

The lesson is based on the principles of the Language Experience Approach (LEA). It is appropriate for ESOL students with low literacy needs. This approach often takes place with individual students, but this lesson shows how the approach is easily adapted for use with a group.

Reading medicine labels

This lesson is about reading and understanding medicine labels. It should follow on from previous lessons on the topic of health e.g. looking at symptoms and going to the doctors. It provides learners with essential vocabulary to how to take medicines and also gives reading practice.

Going to work

Going to work aims to provide beginner ESOL learners with some basic vocabulary and skills to access work along with opportunity to practise the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Weddings in the UK

This lesson is about weddings in the UK and in other countries the learners know. This lesson is aimed beginner ESOL learners who can read and write at a basic level. Learners will learn useful vocabulary so they can discuss weddings and they will have the opportunity to read a text aloud and complete some comprehension tasks.
